alternative treatments to laser
My 1-year-old daughter has a port wine stain on her cheek. She's had approximately 10 laser treatments and they no longer appear to be effective. Overall, the PWS has gotten both lighter and smaller but it is still quite noticeable.
Does anyone know of any alternative treatments to laser? We've been told by one doctor that her PWS was perhaps small enough to be surgically removed.
Any thoughts or references about alternative treatments would be much appreciated.
I do know that sometimes they can be removed. Dr. Waner has offered this option on specific cases. But, i would say typically surgery is not an option. It wouldn't hurt to ask though.
It also is possible that your child might require a different laser? Contact Dr. Nelson about what options are available in treating her PWS. He used 2 different lasers on my son. He customizes treatment to each PWS.
You can contact him via ask the expert on the home page of this site.
Good luck and keep us posted.
