What type of birthmark do I have?
1 Attachment(s)
I have no interest in removing this birthmark, but I have always wondered what it's called (is it just a hemagioma?) It looks like a rash on my left leg only and I've had it as long as I can remember. The marks are flat and not raised and become paler when palpated.
Here is a picture of my knee: |
I am not a physican, but I can tell you this is most likely not a hemangioma. I assume you are an adult... and hemangiomas appear in infacy and go through growth and involution in early childhood. Some h. can leave signs of atrophied skin/scarring, etc., but they do not look like your picture into adulthood. It is common for doctors with limited exposure to vascular lesions to label malformations as "hemangiomas"...but there is a great difference. I would recommend that you contact "ask the expert", Dr. Fishman or Dr. Rosen for an opinion on what type of birthmark you are dealing with.
If you need any help, please let me know. Corinne |
