Ultimately happy.

I was born with an arteriovenous malformation on my right cheek. In 1984, at UCLA hospital, the veins were cauterized. I was one of the first people to have surgery on their birthmark. It stopped my birthmark from growing. I have a scar, a lot of remaining scar tissue and you can still see the veins. As disappointing as I feel about my physical appearance, I'm glad my parents made the decision they did. I've seen the rare occurrences of adults that haven't had the surgery at a younger age. The problems and pain they have later in life.
Some people have a hard time accepting my appearance...making brash comments. I might get more corrective surgery in the future. But why, when others believe I'm beautiful.

good news and glad to hear you are happy with your results even if you still have some scarring.

Good to hear. Scars are cool! lol. I've grown to kind of like mine, a physical reminder of what I have overcome. :)
