Ulcerations
My 8 week old daughter with cmtc has developed Ulcerations in her diaper area, it is heart breaking to hear her scream with pain every time she goes potty. Does anyone know of a diaper cream or anything else that will help protect and or heal the affected area?

HI and welcome!
Ask Dr. Serena via the Ask the Experts Section: http://birthmakr.org/experts.php and he will tell you what to do to help. Missy |
Ask your nurse about mepilex-a wound cover. It is a waterproof, breathable bandage that works in the diaper area. It worked on my daughter's ulcer on her butt cheek.

Please let me know what has or has not worked for you. My 6mo old daugher recently developed ulceration in her diaper area over the past week. Went to the doctor yesterday and was given a type of bandage/cover but the nurse didn't seem to think that it would work that well in the diaper area (very frustrating - then why give it to me in the first place?).

My daughter spent 7 days in the hospital where lots of things, from creams to wound covers, were tried to cover her ulcerations. Nothing was working and she kept getting worse. Once we were home we kept trying different things. What has worked the best was a diaper cream called Butt Paste (in a yellow tube) and cornstarch. Most of her ulcerations have healed and she no longer screams.
