Default ...and that's the way it is....

I am a 56 year old man and I have three Port Wine Stains on my face. One covers the entire left temple. The other my entire left cheek and the third one is under my left eye. It looks like a black eye. I did not date much as a teenager due to the lack of self confidence the birthmarks caused me but I did have girlfriends, many of them ďjust friendsĒ others were girls I took out occasionally and there were others whom I could have dated had I only asked them. I finally went steady with someone my senior year of high school. I didnít date much in college either but the opportunities were certainly there. Most of my reticence has been in my mind. However I did begin experimenting covering the birthmarks with make up in my early 20ís during college and became expert at it, so good at it that after college I went on to become a local television news reporter and weatherman and professional sales representative all the while expertly hiding the birthmarks with make up. Covering up the birthmark created some new, quirky problems for me to deal with, however. Living with a birthmark is not easy but it has developed in me three important personal character traits: (1) Some things are just tough s--t so be grateful for the good things you have (2) Suck it up and go (3) Grin and bear it!

The above isnít my life story by any means. I could write a book about that. And maybe so someday. I can make myself available to listen to others with a PWS and discuss and compare problems and experiences living with a facial PWS.
