Event of Interest
PWS Conference in NYC October 2003 Announced
published September 23, 2002

The following information is our tentative plan for the Vascular Birthmarks Foundation Port Wine Stain Conference to be held in New York City.

Date: Friday, October 17, and Saturday October 18, 2003 Place: Welcome Reception, Friday October 17th, 7pm (cookies/beverages for kids and wine/cheese, etc. for adults will be provided) at NYU. Dr. Geronemous will present at 7:30 until 8:30.

Date: Saturday, October 18, 8:30am - 12:00pm - Conference Place: NYU Tentative Speakers: Dr. Waner, Dr. Mihm, and Dr. Geronemous has speakers for Klippel Trenaunay and Sturge Weber. Subjects will include: latest pathology research in causes, classification of Port Wine Stain, new developments in management (Dr. G. has a specialist from California who may speak on an exciting new treatment) Speakers will be firmed up in the next month.
12:00-1:00 pm - lunch will be provided for families and speakers. There will be childcare during the conference.
1:00-6:00pm - clinic at Dr. Geronemous Office - directions and info to follow.
7:00pm - faculty/speakers/coordinators dinner. Families will be on their own to mix, mingle, visit the Big Apple.
There is discussion about conducting some meeting sessions during the 1:00-6:00pm clinic time. Kathy Francos has given me a list of topics. I am open to anyone who wants to set something up. We can ask Dr. G. for two or three small meeting areas or get meeting areas at NYU. Please send info on topics or discuss with Kathy Francos of PWS-list newsgroup.

Fees: $50 donation to VBF per family for conference and an additional $50 for clinic. You can attend one or both. Both will be a total of $100 donation to VBF. All donations are tax deductible.

Kathy Francos will be my downstate coordinator and is looking into lodging. Since we have a long lead on this, people would be smart to make a decision early and start looking to make this a fun, adventure, holiday.
