Help? Difference between VM and AVM?

Hello,

I believe I have a VM in my left arm, but I am having trouble understanding the distinction between a AVM and VM. On the birthmarks page on this site when I click on Venous Malformation it starts talking about AVMs, but I thought they were not the same? Now I am having difficulty discerning the difference.

Anyone have any links they can point to?
And are the treatments the same? is one easier to treat than another? Is embolization and sclerotherapy the same thing?

Im confused.
