Default Hemangioma that comes and goes

I have a hemangioma on the inside of my knee and its about the size of my palm. I was about 8 when it first appeared and I'm 34 now. It disappears and returns every few months. When it disappears you can see the bumpiness but no discoloration. When it reappears its dark purple almost bluish. Anyone else have one the comes and goes. Anyone know why?
