I also have a 15yr old son with venous malformation regarding his left side hip down to foot. I'm looking to talk with someone in same situation regarding teenage self esteem at this age.

Braspatello - I have an almost-12 yr old daughter with a CVM in her lower right leg - she also has lyphatic microcysts on that leg. I'd like to visit with you about self esteem and confidence issues as I too am trying to support my daughter (7th grade this fall). We live in Texas and she is wearing jeans over her compression therapy tight nearly every day.

Please go see: http://birthmark.org/node/246 and find what's going on in our Ask/Accept Anti bullying campaign.

Also, write to Leslie Graff at http://birthmark.org/experts.php and see if she has any coping strategies to share with your families. Self-esteem and confidence can really take a beating at that age.

Missy
