Default Daughter VM cheek.

My 7 month old daughter has a small vm on her cheek. It was diagnosed by a specialist team because of its nature. It was present at birth and only grew and darkened a small bit in first few weeks. They are pretty certain of diagnosis and feel no need for MRI. They did do an ultrasound and that dr thought it was a hemangioma but specialist team discounted this. It is mostly blue/purple but sometimes is almost skin colour. It is very firm and has a definite lump underneath. The colour lightens when pressed but does not disappear. Recently I noticed the lump has decreased in size slightly and the vm has become less firm. The vm was very warm to touch bur the heat has gone out of it recently too. Does this lump sound like a clot?

Hi, Louise, I can't answer the question about the clot, but I suggest you join AVMsurvivors.org to get information and support for your daughter's vm. There is another mom there whose infant son has an VM near his lip; you can help each other and learn from each other as you figure out the best care for your children.
