I am a 48 yr old female, I was diagnosed at age 9 with cavernous hemangioma, which had been present from birth, in my left hand three fingers. I now believe it must be a venous malformation, from th e research i have been doing. I have had five surgeries to strip the veins, and one session of alcohol injection, i beleive it is called sclerotherapy. None of these procedures have helped in the long run, short term yes. I am finding as i age it is becoming difficult to use my hand. At present i am suffering with my middle knuckle. It is always "popping" out of joint. If i shake my hand it seems to realign itself. Apparently, the bones in my fingers have become deformed, why i am not really sure. My doctor has recently retired and i am looking for a new one. I am not sure i want to go back to a plastic surgeon, i would rather see someone who specializes in venous anomolies. I am having difficulty finding someone in canada. Does anyone know of a specialist for adults in canada?
Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.
