I agree that the picture does not exactly look like a port wine stain. More like a brown nevus of some type, but I also thought that it might just be the lighting/camera/etc. Good luck on your quest to find a good diagnosis and treatment! And do not be sad - I believe all will work out in the end!

The reason I recommend Dr. Duarte is her experience treating with laser.

Dr. Mihm is also a great resource (ask the expert on the main page) for NON vascular birthmarks. If this is not a pws and is a nevus he will be able to tell and give you options. Feel free to email him directly thru the site or let me know and I can help get a message to him.
