Hello all

I am new to this site, and have just read faiths story, she looks great! My daughter is just 5 weeks old and has a strawberry hemangioma on her lower lip which appears to be getting bigger, my gp just told me that it will go away on its own, and that it will get bigger before it goes down. Im very worried and upset. Does any one else have a baby with the same hemangioma??

Where are you located? You probably need to see a specialist.

Hi Lisa,
I know how hard it is to be at the beginning of the whole hemangioma journey. I was very worried and upset too. The anxiety of not knowing what was going to happen was really difficult for me. I remember it like it was yesterday. I'm not sure if lower lip hemangiomas sort of "behave" differently from upper lip ones, but if it were me I would see a specialist so it can be monitored more closely and then you can get an idea of all your options along the way. Our pedi was always pretty "anti-treatment" but we decided to treat it because it ulcerated. I think it was the right decision for us. Every case is different though. So that's why I think seeing a specialist is a good idea (especially with lips.) Glad you got to check out Faith's album. It's actually really neat for us to look back on it..she likes looking at it too! I'm sure others will chime in here with lower lip hemangiomas. Good luck! Keep us posted! This site has been a life line for me for the past 6 years and hopefully it will help you too!

Thanks everyone! By the way, I called and cancelled Faith's second treatment that was supposed to be in May because we don't think she even really needs it. So I believe we are DONE!!! What an amazing 6 year journey!
