Default I am going to run the 5 K! (and hope I live to tell about it!)

I just saw that there will be a 5K roadrace as a benefit for VBF and I've decided to do it!!! I have never run anything in my life. Actually last week I had to run a quarter mile down the street to catch the mailman and I thought I was going to have a heart attack! But I started training today and bought myself some new sneakers too!

VBF has been a huge blessing in my life and we were so fortunate to be able to attend the conference last year in NYC. That wouldn't have been possible without fundraisers like this....and so when I saw that this roadrace was in my neck of the woods I was like, "You know what?! I'm going to do this!!!!"

My family is jumping on board and they are planning on doing it too. I just hope I live to tell about it!!!

Oh Shannon, that is wonderful!!! I hope you live to tell about it too!

Somewhere online (I'll go google) there is a guide on training for a race, with a schedule so that you will know you are ready on the day. Hold on... need another tab.

Found it http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml My cousin was telling me about this over the summer. I'm sorry to say it's called "The Couch-to-5K." Also, I think it plans for two months, and you don't have that much time. Any case, I bet it would be a good guide to what goals you might have to work up to it.

YEA YOU!!! Good for you! I can't wait to find out how well you do!
