Default Is this a hemangioma?

My baby is one week old today and I am concerned about a purple spot above his eyelid. The spot didn't show up immediately after birth. It has been there for five days now and hasn't went away. At first I thought it was just a bruise but I am starting to get very concerned. Please take a look and give me your opinions! Thanks!!

Hi and welcome!

If you are having trouble attaching a photo, email it to contact@birthmark.org and I'll attach it for you.

The spot is not raised. The doctor seemed to think it was a busted blood vessel from crying but it's been days now and it hasn't faded or changed at all.

Hmm...I guess it's hard to tell since it wasn't there when he was born but it hasn't changed at all either? I would keep taking pictures every few days to see if you notice any change (fading or growing). Do you think it has been growing? Sometimes it is difficult to tell when you see it every day. If it is growing, it might be a hemangioma and I would try to get in to see a specialist since it is on his eyelid. Keep us posted and congratulations on the birth of your son!
