The Stephen Dale Project

The Dale Family, of Louisiana, attended the VBF conference in Boston in October 2006. Little did they know that this conference would change their lives and would change components of the VBF mission.
Stephen,
the teenage son of Mike and Anne Dale has a facial port wine stain.
The Dales came to the conference like many other families to learn about
the latest information in the diagnosis and treatment of vascular birthmarks.
They were happy to hear about the new developments in treatment and
were even happier to meet all of the physicians and VBF staff. Several
months after the conference, VBF President and Founder Linda Rozell-Shannon
received an email from Anne. Anne and her husband own a jewelry store
in Louisiana, “Anne Dale Jeweller”. Anne Dale had designed
a piece of jewelry for New Orleans Katrina relief and raised an incredible
amount of money for the cause. Famous celebrities and politicians, including
the President himself, purchased and supported Anne’s Katrina
relief jewelry. Anne knew that God was using her talents to help others.
Anne felt the same thing when she was inspired to design a piece of
jewelry to help raise money for VBF. No one knew how big this would
become but when everyone saw the piece, they had the same reaction –
“wow, this is going to be huge” including VBF President
Linda Rozell-Shannon. As a result of this piece of jewelry, a theme
emerged “Beauty Comes From Within”
and that set the stage for the evolution of the Stephen Dale Project
which is fast becoming an international outreach to spread the good
news that being facially different is beautiful.
This campaign is so important that it will be the theme for the VBF 2008 Conference in NYC, and will be the focus of a major fund raiser to coincide with the 2008 conference.
Stephen’s
website, the Stephen Dale Project, is nothing less than phenomenal.
As an accomplished musician, Stephen is spreading the word through his
voice and his talents that we all are equally beautiful because real
beauty is inside, not outside. His website features numerous facial
differences, including vascular birthmarks.
The beautiful piece “Beauty Comes From Within” is available through the VBF website and eventually through other distribution points. “Beauty Comes From Within” is Sterling Silver and can be purchased as a pin and/or a pendant through the link below. Proceeds will benefit VBF so that we can continue to make a difference in the lives of families affected by a vascular birthmark.
Thanks to the Dale family, our mission now includes promotion of the Stephen Dale Project theme, “Beauty Comes From Within.” While we continue to network children and adults with a vascular birthmark into treatment, educate physicians, sponsor research, and support programs dealing with acceptance for living with a birthmark, we also support the message that real beauty comes from within.
We will also provide a link for you to submit comments after you receive your pin and/or pendant.
You can also help VBF by selling the pins and/or pendants to help us raise funds. You can find out more about how to take orders and place them with VBF through the link below.

VBF NEEDS LANGUAGE TRANSLATORS - SPANISH, PORTUGESE,
AND ASIAN LANGUAGES
If you can volunteer your time to translate VBF's key informational pages into
one of the above mentioned languages, or in any other language not indicated,
contact VBF President and Founder Linda Rozell-Shannon at hvbf@aol.com.
There are approximately 24 key pages. Please put "Language Translation"
in the subject line. This is very important for our families all over the world
to be able to have the highest quality of information and to have it in their
own language. We can make a difference, but we need your help to continue to
help families all over the world that are affected by vascular birthmarks.
