Note: This list in no way is to be construed as containing the ONLY physicians who treat vascular birthmarks. There are many other physicians who are qualified and have great expertise in this area. This list contains some physicians who have become a part of our resource list. Dr. Howard has a weekly Cleft Lip, Cleft Palate, & Craniofacial Clinic at the Children's Hospital of Alabama in Birmingham. Dr. Howard studied plastic surgery under the world famous Dr. Ralph Millard in Miami, and studied craniofacial surgery under world famous Dr. Paul Tessier in Paris, France. He has been board certified since 1988.

I personally trained at the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) with the co-inventor of the pulsed dye laser and one of the world's leaders in vascular malformation treatment, Drs. R. Rox Anderson. In addition, I was a clinical attendant at MGH's vascular malformation clinic lead by Dr. Martin Mihm. I have experience using a variety of lasers (pulsed dye laser, alexandrite, and diode) for a variety of different vascular birthmarks. I have personally treated children as young as two weeks old to adults in retirement. I currently am in practice with four additional dermatologists with more than 75 years of combined experience treating patients with birthmarks. We currently have the Candela VBeam Perfecta & Gentlelase, and the Lumenis Lightsheer for venous malformations. We perform most of our treatments in office and also coordinate with a local outpatient care center for our patients that require anesthesia.
